Milton Palacio
Photo Assistant
How did you get into the industry?
I'll try to summarize: Years ago, I took up running. I started running in events and linked up with a local running group. After awhile, I started going to events I wasn't even running in just to watch and spectate. Eventually, I started bringing my little Canon point & shoot camera along to take pictures for fun. I had a thought about seeing if I could get some part time work as a course photographer and looked into going back to school. In school I learned how theres a lot more to photography than just taking a picture of something you like. I still have an interest in event photography but I gravitated towards commercial photography during school.
What inspires you?
The people I've met in the industry have all helped me in one way or another. I always learn something new from the photographers I get to assist for. The stylists and art directors on set have been unbelievably helpful. Also the other photo assistants I meet give me pointers on how to navigate through this industry. It is never ending learning experience.

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?
On getting started in the industry: "You're going to get a lot of no's. You're going to get a lot of no replies. Thats just the nature of the industry. You just need to be persistent but not annoying."
What book, movie read/seen recently you would recommend and why?
I'm more of a tv series person and I just watch the same stuff over. I'm on probably my 4th viewing of Cutthroat Kitchen. Still trying to get caught up on the modern Doctor Who.
Are you a traveler or a homebody? Why?
I do like to travel when I can but its tough to leave my cat behind. If only I could bring her along.
